Beacon Hill A287 Speed limits – Councillors Survey Spring 2026
Earlier this year we sought Residents views on having a 30mph speed limit on various sections of the A287 and their views on having a pedestrian crossing in Beacon Hill
We had a tremendous response. 331 of you replied with the overwhelming majority (86%) being residents of Beacon Hill or Hindhead. Most of those who were not residents come here to shop, work or regularly drive along the A287.
A big majority (85%) wanted a crossing on the A287. Responders also supported all of the 30mph options with 78% supporting the ‘short’ option between Corry Road and Wood Road falling to 55% supporting the ‘longer’ option from Hindhead Gold Club to Tower Road.
Thank you to everyone who responded. Your responses will help us in discussions with both Surrey County Council and the future West Surrey Unitary Council as we try to get safety plans and speed strategies that best meet local needs.
